Barcelona to Prades and Villefranche-de-Conflent
The Conflent, at the foot of the Canigou, is about two and a half hours from Barcelona. Villefranche-de-Conflent, a town fortified by Vauban, is also where the Yellow Train (Train jaune) leaves for the Cerdagne. Two routes
Via Perpignan or via the Cerdagne
The simplest route follows the AP-7 and the A9 to Perpignan, then the N116 up the Têt valley to Prades and Villefranche-de-Conflent. The other goes through the Cadí tunnel, Puigcerdà and Mont-Louis before dropping down into the Conflent: a mountain road that can get snow in winter.
The driver chooses according to the season, the weather and your address. The price you book does not change with the route or the traffic.

Catching the Yellow Train in Villefranche
The Yellow Train runs from Villefranche-de-Conflent to Latour-de-Carol across the Cerdagne, over viaducts and a suspension bridge. It is a regional line whose timetable changes with the season: check it before booking and give us the train time, and we set the pick-up with a margin.
The Yellow Train runs inside France: we can drop you in Villefranche from Spain, but we cannot then drive you from one French town to another. To get back to Barcelona at the end of your stay, message us with your plans.
