Tolls between Barcelona and the South of France
Many travellers wonder how many tolls they will pay between Barcelona and France. On the Spanish side the answer changed in 2021; on the French side the motorway is still tolled. Here is what to know, and why the question does not arise with a fixed-price transfer.

Spanish side
No more tolls on the AP-7 between La Jonquera and Tarragona
Since 1 September 2021 the Catalan section of the AP-7 between La Jonquera and Tarragona has been toll-free. From Barcelona to the border at Le Perthus you do not pay motorway tolls.
Towards the Cerdagne, the C-16 goes through the Cadí tunnel, which is tolled. See Barcelona – Font-Romeu.

The A9 and A61 are tolled
After the border, the A9 (Le Perthus – Perpignan – Narbonne – Montpellier) and the A61 (Narbonne – Carcassonne – Toulouse) are toll motorways. The amount depends on the distance and the vehicle class: use the operator’s calculator for a specific trip.
